Plaster Statue of Sir Walter Scott

Plaster Statue of Sir Walter Scott

A 19thC plaster statue of Sir Walter Scott after the 1837 memorial statue by John Greenshields in George Square, Glasgow.
The original sits on top of an 80 foot doric column by Alexander Handyside Ritchie, which was originally meant to accomodate a statue of George III but instead became, having taken four years to complete, the first ever memorial dedicated to Scott some years pre-dating the, some would say more famous, Scott Memorial in Edinburgh.
