Rat Trap c.1800
An early humane rat trap; beautifully made with intricate metalwork and handle and in excellent condition.
The inside reveals a tapering cone of metal rods, a method often seen in fish traps, by which the rodent can, through a hole at the top, enter the cage but not use as an escape.
There is a portcullis style gate that creates a gap to remove bait and prey etc!
A very unusual and very interesting item.
