Painted 18thC Pedestal

Painted 18thC Pedestal

An 18thC painted Italian pedestal which has had very different origins...

The inside of the cupboard reveals painted barley twist "legs" and a painted and scuffed base which leads to believe this started life as an Italian painted console. The fact that the drawer is not central (and there is a sign of a seperately placed, earlier  knob) also adds to the mystery.
Each side has been contemporarily finished with the same paint effect and colour so presumably two of the sides have been added albeit some time ago

Whatever has been messed around with the end result is rather marvelous and very unusual and the whole thing has a very good feel about it.
