14thC Seal Matrix
An extremely fine example of a 14thC “chess piece” bronze seal matrix.
This has survived well and the deep and crisp relief of the emblem and Legend is very evident. It reads “Ecce Agnvs Dei” or ” Behold the Lamb of God” and would probably have been used by a clergyman or layman.
The drilled loop would have faciltated the seal to have been worn with the use of a simple cord of sorts, probably around the neck.
